VoIP allows us to convert the traditional analogue nature of voice to a digital stream of zeroes and ones. This means that we can send voice over any data network at a very low cost between any two points on a data network.

  Introduction

VOIP is an acronym for Voice Over Internet Protocol, which is really just converting standard analogue voice into data, allowing it to be streamed across any IP network, including private networks and the internet.

Xtranet formed sister company Xtravoice to focus on VOIP solutions in South Africa and to deliver a quality service to clients. Through this service clients can realize significant savings in telecommunications costs, both from equipment and call perspectives.

Traditional legacy PABX equipment is expensive and proprietary and not very scalable, which is a problem when a business is growing fast in tough economic times. Xtravoice has embraced the open source initiative and after much experimentation with various flavors of Asterisk on a number of different hardware platforms we have settled on a locally developed solution and deliver this product to our clients with our strategic partners, Far South Networks.

Hardware
The product range, known as Com.X, covers all aspects of any businesses telecommunications needs and is scalable enough to integrate with an existing proprietary PABX platform or to replace a legacy system. Least Cost Routing.
LCR is an acronym for Leased Cost Routing. LCR is the routing of a call from one point to another via the cheapest possible route. Traditionally this has been done only mainly with calls to the cellular companies only.

Xtravoice has data centers in Durban and Gauteng and delivers various least cost routing solutions through these data centers. Xtravoice replaces old and outdated premicells solutions, and also offers savings on national and international calls made through our network. Businesses are able to subscribe and connect to our network in a variety of ways, from ADSL to dedicated connections, depending on the clients' capacity requirements.
